HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION
Health Effects
Acute–Swallowed: Harmful if swallowed. Swallowing can result in diahoea, abdominal pain, ulceration of the stomach, lachrymation, diffuclty in breathing and loss of conciousness.
Acute–Eye: Irritating to eyes. May result in permanent injury.
Acute-Skin: May cause skin irritation.
Acute-; Inhaled Irritating to mucous membranes and respiratory tract. Inhalation of vapour may cause headache, dizziness, nausea, pulmonary edema, pneumonitis and emphysema. Effects may be delayed.
First Aid
Swallowed: Rinse mouth thoroughly with water immediately. If swallowed do NOT induce vomiting. Seek medical advice.
Eye: Immediately irrigate with copious quantity of water for at least 15 minutes.Eyelids to be held open. Seek immediate medical assistance.
Skin: Wash affected areas with copious quantities of water immediately. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before re-use. If swelling, redness, blistering or irritation occurs seek medical advice.
Inhaled: Remove victim from exposure - avoid becoming a casualty. If breathing laboured and patient cyanotic (blue), ensure airways are clear and have qualified person give oxygen through a face mask. If breathing has stopped apply artificial respiration at once. In the event of cardiac arrest, apply external cardiac massage. Seek urgent medical assistance.
First Aid Facilities: Maintain eyewash fountain and drench facilities in work area.
Advice to Doctor

Other Health Hazard Information
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
Other Exposure Info.: Decomposition product, Chlorine:
TWA: 3 mg/m3 (1 ppm) - Peak limitation - Worksafe Aust.
TWA-the Time-Weighted Average airborne concentrations over an eight-hour working day, for a five-day working week.
Peak Limitation - a ceiling concentration which should not be exceeded over a measurement period which should be as short as possible but not exceeding 15 minutes.
Eng. Controls: Provide sufficient ventilation to ensure that the working environment is below the TWA (time weighted average). Where vapours or mists are generated, particularly in enclosed areas, and natural ventilation is inadequate exhaust ventilation system may be required.
Personal Protection
Respirator Type (AS 1716): Where ventilation is not adequate, respiratory protection may be required. Avoid breathing dust, vapours or mists. Respiratory protection should comply with AS 1716 - Respiratory Protective Devices and be selected in accordance with AS 1715-Selection, Use and Maintenance of Respiratory Protective Devices. Filter capacity and respirator type depends on exposure levels.
Eye Protection: The use of a face shield, chemical goggles or safety glasses with side shield protection as appropriate. Must comply with Australian Standards AS 1337 and be selected and used in accordance with AS 1336.
Glove Type: PVC gloves.
Hand protection should comply with AS 2161 Industrial Safety Gloves and Mittens (Excluding Electrical and Medical Gloves).
Clothing: Wear suitable protective clothing to prevent skin contact. Clothing for protection against chemicals should comply with AS 3765 Clothing for Protection Against Hazardous Chemicals.
Work/Hygienic Practices: Always wash hands before smoking, eating or using the toilet. Wash contaminated clothing and other protective equipment before storing or re-using.
Flammability
Fire Hazards: Not combustible but assists combustion of other substances.

SAFE HANDLING INFORMATION
Storage and Transport
Storage Precautions: Store in a cool, dry place. Store away from combustible materials. Store away from acids. Keep containers securely sealed and protected against physical damage.
Transport: Dangerous goods of Class 5.1 (Oxidizing Agent) are incompatible in a placard load with any of the following: Class 1, Class 2.1, Class 2.3, Class 3, Class 4, Class 5.2, Class 7, Class 8, Fire risk substances and Combustible liquids.
Storage Regulations: Refer Australian Standard AS 4326 - 1995 'The storage and handling of oxidizing agents'.
Handling Avoid generating and inhaling dust.
Other Storage Info.: Mix only with water. Use only clean, dry utensils. Do not mix with remnants of other products. Such use may cause a violent reaction leading to fire or explosion.
Proper Shipping Name: DICHLOROISOCYANURIC ACID, DRY
EPG Number: 5A1
IERG Number: 31
Packaging Method: 5.9.5.1
Spills and Disposal
Spills & Disposal: Do not contaminate. Keep combustibles (wood, paper, clothing, oil, etc.) away from the spilled material. Do NOT touch damaged containers or spilled material unless wearing appropriate protective clothing. Use water spray to knock down vapours or divert vapour clouds. Prevent entry into waterways, drains or confined areas. Prevent exposure to heat.
Dry Spill: Use clean non-sparking tools to transfer material to a clean, dry plastic container and cover loosely. Move container from spill area. Small Liquid Spill: Use a non-combustible material like vermiculite, sand or earth to soak up the product and place in a loosely-covered container for later disposal.
Large Liquid Spill: SEEK EXPERT ADVICE ON HANDLING AND DISPOSAL.
Fire/Explosion Hazard
Fire/Explos. Hazard: Will accelerate burning when involved in a fire. May explode on heating, shock, friction or contamination. Some will react explosively with hydrocarbons (fuels). May ignite combustibles (wood, paper, clothing, etc). Fire may produce irritating, poisonous, and/or corrosive gases. Containers may explode on heating. Runoff may create fire or explosion hazard.
Hazardous Decomposition or Byproducts: Chlorine.
Fire Fighting Procedures: Small fire: Use flooding quantities of water. DO NOT use dry chemical, CO2 or foam.. If safe to do so, move undamaged containers from the fire area. DO NOT move cargo if cargo has been exposed to heat. Large fire: Flood fire area with water from a protected position. Cool containers with flooding quantities of water until well after the fire is out. If possible, withdraw from area and let it burn. Avoid getting water inside the containers; a violent reaction may occur. Dam fire control water for later disposal.
Fire Fighting Precautions: Wear SCBA and chemical splash suit. Structural firefighter's uniform will provide limited protection.
Hazardous Reaction: Contact with water may liberate nitrogen trichloride gas. Contact with acids
liberates toxic gas.
Hazchem Code: 2WE
