Modifier for polyester, alkyd and phenolic resins, paper-size resins; plasticisers, rosin esters and adducts, alkyd resin coatings, upgrading natural drying oils (especially tall oil) to improve drying characteristics, in foods as substitute for tartaric acid, as acidulant and flavouring agent (FDA approved), mordant, organic synthesis, printing inks.

2.1 Health Effects - Acute

Swallowing may cause victim to vomit.

Dust may cause irritation to the eyes.

Swallowed
If vomiting occurs naturally, have victim lean forward to reduce risk of aspiration. Call a physician.
Eye
For eye contact, immediately flush eyes with running water for at least 15 minutes. Hold eyelids apart to ensure rinsing of the entire surface of the eyes and lids with water. Get immediate medical attention.
Skin
Wash affected areas with plenty of water and soap if available for several minutes. Remove and clean contaminated clothing and shoes. Seek medical attention if irritation develops or persists.
Inhaled
Remove from area to fresh air. If not breathing, clear airway and start artificial respiration (mouth-to-mouth, bag-mask respirator). If having trouble breathing, give supplemental oxygen. Get immediate medical attention.

3.2 Engineering Controls
Store in a dry, well ventilated place away from sources of ignition. Take precautionary measures against static discharges.
3.3 Personal Protection
Wear dust filter mask when handling. Use PVC or plastic gloves, and wear safety goggles. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Keep away from foodstuffs Wash hands and face thoroughly after handling and before work breaks, eating, drinking, smoking and using toilet facilities.

Spills
